Who is the Maui Contractors Association?

Established in 1962, the Maui Contractors Association strives to support local contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers and associate members in implementing legislation for our industry, assist in community issues, provide educational opportunities and try to create a place we can all have pride in calling home.  We are the voice of the building industry in Maui County.

Our membership consists of many different companies, small, medium and large.  Whether it is a company with no employees or 100 employees, they all contribute to our community in their own way.  Most members are born, raised and have chosen to come back and call Maui their home.

We have a scholarship program created to assist our youth in their future career paths.  Our organization offers educational seminars, first aid training, OSHA training to our members and non-members.  We have an annual Home Show that provides the community a one stop shop in buying, building or remodeling a home.

With the current issues affecting Maui County we continue to strive to have a well-balanced approach in creating a sustainable and positive building community.

Meet Thomas M. Cook, President of the Maui Contractors Association

Owner and President, KSD Hawaii

KSD Hawaii is a Maui-based real estate development company that currently has projects in Kula, Makawao, Waikapu, and Waihee, which are all on Maui; one on the Big Island, and one in California. Prior to owning the company, Mr. Goode ran the operations for the company for the previous four years.

Prior to joining KSD Hawaii, Mr. Goode was the Deputy Director and then Director of the Department of Public Works and Waste Management for the County of Maui.  During his seven and a half years with the County of Maui, Mr. Goode oversaw a department of 400 employees with an annual operating budget of $40 million. In addition to running the department, Mr. Goode was also responsible for the timely completion for a number of high-profile capital improvement projects including the Kihei Community Center, Aquatic Center, and the upgrade of the War Memorial Stadium for the Hula Bowl.

Before working for the County of Maui, Mr. Goode was a project manager for Schuler Homes on Maui, a licensed contractor, and worked for Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, California as an engineer in their marketing division.

Mr. Goode received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
